Dear Fellow Transcriber, We're excited you're interested in freelance work with “Daily Transcripts!”We're sure you're talented enough to do the work… the question is, “Is this something you want to do?” * We are a small company specializing in TRANSCRIPTIONS for Entertainment companies on daily delivery, hence our name "Daily Transcripts." We are looking for professional transcribers we can call on an as-needed basis to work from their homes. We may keep you really busy and then you might not hear from us for months! It's feast or famine depending upon our clients, available transcribers, etc. What do we consider "professional transcriber”… "entertainment background"? You are a professional or a novice transcriber if you own computer and transcription equipment and have worked at some point in your life for a transcription company or transcribing for an individual. It's not brain surgery, but it requires reliable individuals committed to perfection! Often the sound quality is horrible and you have to listen late at night over and over again to the same sentence. We'll contact you based upon our needs, your experience, your reply, referrals, etc. * IS THIS FOR YOU? If you answer “yes” to the following questions, this work is for you! $ Do you own computer? ABOUT THE PROCESS We typically work on interviews, realty, dialogue, b-roll, as broadcast, and closed captions transcripts. Project files (tapes) are typically 15-25 minutes in length; shows require 100-500 tapes and last for months and we usually have numerous shows running at the same time. The pay rate is between $15-45 per 30mins of transcribed material. An average audio minute ends up being $2 to $5, because this is Entertainment transcription there is a need for fast turnarounds, (24hrs or less) when this is the case we have RUSH charges added on top of the regular rate, which in turn makes the dollar per minute double or triple. We will do an accuracy test on your document, you will need to be in the range of 92 to 100% accuracy to be considered for this project. Accuracy is extremely important, (let me say that another way) accuracy is mucho, mucho importante!!! Please do not put [INAUDIBLE] because you did not take the time to make a second or third pass. Remember, we are grading your test samples on the same test file you have, so if we can hear it then you should too. Also, following instructions will be enforced. If you forget to put your name in the file or don't follow our document format, your doc will be rejected and deleted before we grade it for accuracy. DOING THIS CORRECTLY IS THE FIRST WEED-OUT PROCESS! ACCURACY: Google searches are required; names, places, etc to be spelled phonetically. Ums, ahs, false starts, agreements, repeated words, mumbles, poignant [laughs] and [coughs], inaudibles [INAUDIBLE] to be transcribed. SCORING: Missed Words .5, Phrases 2.5, Sentences 5. TIMESTAMPING: Approximately before every question or 30 sec as displayed on the file. TURNAROUND: Strictly 12 to 24 hours or until next working day. FYI: You will need Real Media Player to play the file and you can use Express Scribe to transcribe the file, which will aide you in a faster transcribing method (but is not required for the test). Also, a good set of headphones is a must. If you already have a V-Pedal or Start Stop software you are head of the the game.
